Paying for pain

So I just paid $505 dollars to sign up to take Step 1 of the medical liscensing board exam. Talk about adding insult to injury. So I am just curious what is the most you have paid for something you really didn't want to do/wish you didn't have to buy etc...I mean, of course I want to be liscensed and all of that jazz, but I don't understand why it can't be free. There is really no love in this world for starving students. I mean, come on, $1 off at the movie theater? Maybe that meant something back when movies were $2. Anyways, I just needed to rant about that.

The last part of your post reminded me of when Jeremy called a TUS-PHX airport shuttle to see how much it cost. They said $60 one way. Jeremy asked if they had a discount for students. They said $2 off.

Yeah. Thanks.

$500 is pretty bad. I hope I don't remember having ever had to do something like that.

If insurance ends up covering it all, I will have to pay $1100 dollars for a root canal that was caused by my dentist. Not fair.

Medical insurance at BYU for non-student spouses is as much as tuition. The one year at MIT that we had to pay the student insurance (instead of employee) it was so expensive that I have blocked the dollar amount from my memory. It led to the creation of an extra officer in the student life organization that would be an advocate for families. (It was Cristie.) When she did a presentation to those who set the insurance rate, she did a basic budget using the student stipend and rent and insurance alone put everyone in the red. And we hadn't eaten yet. MIT decided that they didn't want all their student families on welfare, so they made the rate more reasonable the next year. After we were back to paying the employee rate.

$500 for two parking tickets for having tint that is evidently "too dark" by chicago standards, never mind that it is not a problem in phoenix! (i know you have already heard this story but your post gave me the opportunity to rant about it again!) guess that is a sign we live in a city that doesn't get enough sunshine, we really need to move!

$600-800 to make sure I don't have a medical problem that I have a 99% chance of not having! next month will be SUCH a delight.

Car registration. Insurance I can understand, but $200+ to register my car? Come on.
